New barklice (Psocodea, Trogiomorpha) from Lower Cretaceous Spanish amber

چکیده
Barklice are insects belonging to the order Psocodea. They herbivorous or detritivorous, and inhabit a wide range of environments. Their oldest fossil record dates back late Carboniferous, but it was not until Cretaceous that they became much more diverse. However, their could be affected by taphonomic processes due tiny size soft bodies. Here, we present new psocid specimens from five amber-bearing outcrops in Spain Albian age. One specimens, well-preserved nymph assigned †Archaeatropidae, lacks evidence debris-carrying behaviour. Some belong previously known species Archaeatropos alavensis Baz & Ortuño Preempheria antiqua (Trogiomorpha: Atropetae), providing anatomical biogeographical information. Furthermore, describe species, Libanoglaris hespericus sp. nov. (†Archaeatropidae). The diagnosis for family †Archaeatropidae is emended. abundance psocids amber virtual absence compression bias. Considerations on phylogenetic placement trogiomorphan families relationships between †Empheriidae included. Today, least diverse suborder Trogiomorpha, this comprises majority psocodean described date, possibly palaeobiological evolutionary constraints. Trogiomorphans have been relegated marginal habitats niche competition with psocomorphans. Debris-carrying behaviour response predatory pressure might widely distributed, geographically phylogenetically, nymphs.

Diverse barklice (Psocodea) from Late Cretaceous Vendean amber
The fossil psocodeans from Late Cretaceous (Cenomanian to Santonian) amber of Vendée, in northwestern France, are studied. Two new genera and three new species are described and illustrated, as Proprionoglaris axioperierga n. sp. (Archaeatropidae), Scocompus atelisus n. gen. and sp. (uncertain family within the Amphientometae), and Mesopsocoides dupei n. gen. and sp. (earliest fossil record of ...
متن کاملThe oldest psyllipsocid booklice, in Lower Cretaceous amber from Lebanon (Psocodea, Trogiomorpha, Psocathropetae, Psyllipsocidae)
Libanopsyllipsocus alexanderasnitsynigen. et sp. n., of Psyllipsocidae is described and figured from the Lower Cretaceous amber of Lebanon. The position of the new taxon is discussed and the fossil is compared to other psyllipsocids. The species represents the earliest record of the family Psyllipsocidae.
متن کاملCarnivorous fungi from Cretaceous amber.
Carnivorous fungi dating back to the age of the dinosaurs have been found fossilized in circa-100-million-year-old amber. The fossil fungi used hyphal rings as trapping devices and are preserved together with their prey, small nematodes. The excellent preservation in amber allowed comparison with extant groups: On the basis of the mode of ring formation and the dimorphic mode of life, the fossi...
متن کاملThree New Tanaid Species (crustacea, Peracarida, Tanaidacea) from the Lower Cretaceous Álava Amber in Northern Spain
MARINE CRUSTACEANS were not known as inclusions in amber from upper Aptian–middle Albian deposits in Northern Spain. The publication of a photograph of a purported fossil amphipod (Alonso et al., 2000) among many other arthropods promised to be of high interest because the fossil record of the amphipoda does not extend further than Upper Eocene (Schram, 1986; Coleman and Myers, 2000). The Museu...

Two new earwigs (Dermaptera) recently discovered in mid-Cretaceous (latest Albian) amber from Myanmar are described and figured. Astreptolabis ethirosomatiagen. et sp. n. is represented by a peculiar pygidicranoid female, assigned to a new subfamily, Astreptolabidinaesubfam. n., and differs from other protodermapterans in the structure of the head, pronotum, tegmina, and cercal forceps. Tytthod...
